Overview
Rakaposhi (7,788 m) is the mountain Hunza is built around — visible from the KKH for 200 km and visible from the Karakoram Highway as a near-perfect snow pyramid. Its standard base camp approach via Minapin village and the Minapin Glacier gives non-technical trekkers a genuine high-mountain experience without the crowds or permits of the 8,000-metre peaks.
The terrain is classic Karakoram: glacial moraine, ibex country, and a final viewpoint at 3,900 m where Rakaposhi’s south face fills the horizon. Our guide team is from Nagar valley, below the mountain — they know every weather pattern and every shortcut. This is a short but punchy trek best suited to those with reasonable fitness.
